Well this is quite amazing. Looks like Firefox 1.5 will have some killer new developer features including Canvas, SVG and E4X.

This should really push forward web standards. In 25 years when Vista ships and another 20 years when the rest of the world upgrades we should see some similar technologies from Microsoft (are they pathetic or what?!).

Regardless for FireFox extension developers (including GreaseMonkey hackers) this is a good thing.

Robert O’Callahan also setup this cool web page thumbnail extension.

I’ll have to play with Canvas a bit. SVG is dead. Any technology that requires 300 pages won’t last.

  1. Go to a big library and see all the big books on technologies that have been around for a very long time. And on SVG: maybe http://www.yafla.com/dforbes/categories/softwareDevelopment/2005/09/15.html (clickable under my name) gives some insight.
