googleWell. It’s up.

I’m playing with it now. Seems like they have my Feed Blog already indexed. I wish I had raw access to my HTTP logs so I could see what they’re using as a spider. They might just use the normal GoogleBot User-Agent though.

They also provide search results as an RSS or Atom feed! Not only that but they allow you to view in 10 or 100 item increments.

It also looks like they support indexing by link so that if you enter ‘http://www.feedblog.org’ you’ll get back a list of referrers. Which is direct competition for Technorati.

One major problem is that they don’t provide a way to remove posts from my own weblog which is a bit annoying.

Update:

Here’s an idea. Let’s see how open Google is on this issue. I’m curious if they will announce a Google Blogsearch blog. Will they have the Engineers responding to issues in public? Either that or it will be Google as usual and they won’t communicate with the Blogosphere.

Prove me wrong Googlers! Yahoo get it… you don’t seem to…

  1. Here’s a line from my access_log showing Google crawling my feed:

    crawl-66-249-66-242.googlebot.com – - [14/Sep/2005:03:47:41 -0500] “GET /rss.xml HTTP/1.1″ 302 320 “-” “Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)”

  2. Thats NotIt

    That can’t be it.

I’ve seen blog entries indexed on blogsearched that were never crawled by Googlebot.
