Please Ping Tailrank

If you’re a blog pinging service I’d love to get your ping data.

I’ll probably end up contacting everyone directly but this way they might find me sooner.

I contacted Yahoo and Blo.gs but I’ve yet to get pings from them. I haven’t even heard back. Ug. Guess I need to hit them up again. I also need to hit up weblogs.com. I wish TypePad would provide pings…

I guess this could invite spam pings but I can cut people off soon enough. We also have internal spam prevention integrated into TailRank which should catch anything.

Update:

I wonder if I can get TailRank within blogging clients such as Ecto… hm.

FeedBurner just added me to PingShot… I’m not a default ping service but you can select it from the list.

I’m already getting pings via Ping-o-matic. I set them up ASAP. I should have noted this in my original post.

Check out http://updates.sixapart.com/, which is the best way to get a feed of posts from both LiveJournal and TypePad blogs.

Thanks Ben.

I think what I’ll do is write a dedicated task to update that feed and then simulate my ping system. This way I can have it integrate well.. Should be easy enough.

If TailRank’s a ping service, all you need to do is add http://rpc.tailrank.com:4096 to the list of ping addresses in Weblog->Edit Setttings… in ecto.

I’ve had a few people email me about this, could you update the entry that you’re already getting pings from Ping-O-Matic?

sounds like you may have gotten in touch with the yahoo folks already, but blo.gs does not re-ping, it publishes a stream of ping information that you subscribe to. there’s information about it at http://blo.gs/cloud.php

weblogs.com also doesn’t re-ping, you have to pull the changes.xml file.

Yeah.. thats a good point about them not repinging… I’ll take a look. yahoo said they’re previsioning me so I’m not so sure they haven’t added this feature.
