Feedster link cosmos has been broke for more than a month and they still haven’t fixed the problem. I’ve even told Feedster employees in person told them how to fix it with Apache rewrite yet they still haven’t corrected the issue.

When you visit

http://feedster.com/links.php

You get the nice error message:

Our Chief Scientist is bringing you something new in January!

(emphasis mine)

Hey Feedster. January called. They want their error message back.

Feedster might not be dead but they’re certainly a zombie.

It’s like they’re not even trying anymore.

  1. Mmmmm….brains.

Hey Kevin…you are right…January is gone. We’ve arranged with February for a very slight extention of the error message while we fine tune a few things. We’re still a few days away…but it’s coming. BTW…one of the reasons January has been very understanding is that we’ve got a TON of really big things going on (a lot of announcements coming)…some we can talk about and some we cannot. But here’s one we can talk about:

    Yesterday was Sun-Day at Feedster.

    http://oren.blogs.com/praxis/2006/02/feedster_sunday.html

We got some of the new T2000 Niagra machines delivered…and wow…a visit from Scott McNealy, Sun’s CEO. Lots of geek worship took place. It was amazing he took the time to visit a small startup like us.

So…we are sorry for the slight delay. We’ll make it up to you and all our users. A lot of people have rightly called us on our broken features…and we’ve done a lot of work to make sure those are corrected. I’ll be sure to let you know when the new site is up.

I do have to take exception to your comment of us not even trying. We’ve got people (including me) working around the clock to get the new site out. We’re not the first company to ever experience delays…but we want to ensure a good product…not a rushed product.

Thanks for keeping us on our toes!

    Best,

  2. Hey Alan.

    Thanks for the reply:

Sweet. Can’t wait to play with the new stuff.

I think the main point I was trying to raise was that small issues like these
magnify and look worse than they really are. My advice is to just to a point
release or manually edit the templates to fixe these issues.

They’re super small and should only take you guys 5-30 minutes.

    Sweet… Opteron -> Ultrasparc?

I think the point I was trying to raise was that you’re exposing an essentially
broken product. Maybe you guys aren’t seeing it but URL search returns a
totally broken page. A mod-rewrite for a query param with a URL is all thats
needed to fix this. It’s really just an operations issue.

My point is if something’s broken just (correctly) take it offline. We’ll
understand. Just don’t explode on us. :)

    Onward!
