Looks like JetBlue has won an auction for 1Mhz of wireless spectrum to provide Wireless Internet service on their domestic flights. This is pretty impressive of JetBlue considering that the FCC has not yet approved wifi on domestic flights (what a pathetic anti-corporate organization).

The Connexion service by Boeing is only available on international flights which is how they’re able to avoid the FCC.

In the flight from San Francisco to Taipei I was lucky enough to use the service for a little bit and the bandwidth seemed fine. They actually had the service offline until they reached international waters when I noticed a new AP popup out of the blue.

I hope the FCC gets with the program and quickly approves both domestic Wifi use and abolishes the stupid deactivation of digital devices. I would certainly fly a lot more and feel a lot more comfortable flying if I could use the Internet.
