Google just launched Google Book Search with a feature to download the books that are in the public domain. I wonder if the Internet Archive is a bit jealous?
Anyway. This is awesome. I’ve actually been meaning on reading more of the classics but I hate carrying around the dead tree editions. Maybe I’ll buy a Linux PDA with xpdf and stick it in my bag for when I ride the train into work.

It’s a great initiative. On your Linux PDA, what about one of the new (eInkt based) eBooks. Lightweight, reads as good as paper, it’s sexy …
A dutch company are creating a commercial version, Iliad (http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/19/irex-reveals-deets-on-its-iliad-ebook-reader/).
Of course Sony has a reader as well…Far better than a PDA.
