More Women at Vloggercon 2

I’m at Vloggercon right now and one of the things I’ve noticed is that the female to male ratio is much higher than at other technology conferences…. Diversity is a good thing and I think the lack of women in the larger tech industry is not a good thing.

A Long Tail battle 1

Bob Wyman talks about problem’s he’s noticing with ranking on the long tail:If Matt had been able to see the full set of millions of ranks that we compute, he would have noticed a second “region” of very stable ranks…. These are probably just new blogs and people aren’t doing much to increase their inbound links.

Vidcasting Kills the Podcasting Star 0

Jon Udell notes a problem he’s having with Channel 9′s vidcasting:Back in April I griped about how the Channel 9 content is available only as downloadable video. I noted that much of this stuff would be quite useful as downloadable audio too, and in that format I’d be able to consume a lot more of it — while walking, jogging, or driving.

The Rise of Videocasting 3

A few months ago Battlestar Galactica release one of their episodes on the net for anyone to legally download http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/33_full_episode/.The same core technology used to enable podcasting can be used to enable vidcasting…. A decent media player needs to have dozens of codecs to play an arbitrary file.The burden is on your video player in this situation.
